I’m Running Digidesign Pro Tools LE 8.0.4 on my Windows 7 Dell Laptop

by Stephen on December 24, 2009

…and it works great. But wow what a pain! First of all, Digidesign does not support you if you purchased LE 7.4 before October of 2008. If you did, then you’re SOL! They will not give you an update, you have to buy one. Great, so now what? So, what you need to do is:

  1. go find it with other “methods”, get 8.0.0, don’t bother running it because it won’t work on Windows 7.
  2. Then go here and download the 8.0.3 LE updater. It will update your 8.0.0 software to run on Windows 7, but if you want to avoid driver issues,
  • go here for 32 bit Windows 7 Drivers,
  • or here for 64 bit Windows 7 Drivers.  It’s the updated drivers that make your Pro Tools LE v8.0.4 instead of v8.0.3.

And that’s it! Some RTAS plugins carried over, some didn’t. It’s trial and error people until you

  1. buy a freakin MAC, or
  2. wait until the fine folks at Digidesign get around to helping their lame cousin “Windows “.

I hope this helps, now I’m going to go mix!

Hello all. Thanks for all the traffic. I hope this post has helped you. FYI, the links were all updated after the Digidesign site redesign. They should all work again.

Thanks!

~Stephen
